Zuppa Inglese Gelato

This particular gelato is made just like the custard based dessert except that it’s frozen. The name Zuppa Inglese is Italian for English soup. As a dessert, its layered custard and sponge cake with chocolate drizzled over powdered sugar and whipped cream on top.

There are several versions of Zuppa Inglese depending on where you hail from, who you talk to and where you get your recipe. All of that aside, we have made our own version Zuppa Inglese as a gelato with a custard base, finely chunked sponge cake, and we’ve folded in some chocolate stracciatella style. We also added a red berry mixture that’s been soaked in sugar and white wine. Some customers have said it’s pretty delicious but try it for yourself to decide if it’s the best Zuppa Inglese gelato you’ve ever had.
