Homemade Italian Meatballs

Growing up in an Italian-American household, meatballs were considered part of the Sunday dinner food group. Sundays were the best because that’s when the meatballs were made fresh. You’d be awakened by the smell of garlic, basil, oregano and tomatoes cooking. As you approached the kitchen there was the sound of Italian and broken English being spoken along with meat sizzling in the pan. Nonna (grandma) would be at the kitchen table putting the meatballs together while Mamma would watch the stove and make the red sauce. As the meatballs were done in the pan they’d get put into the sauce to simmer. Words don’t even begin to describe how good it smelled and tasted.

What would every Italian-American probably say about their grandmother’s meatballs?

“These are The BEST Italian Meatballs in the whole world!”

At Gelazzi we make our meatballs using our Italian grandmother's recipe using only the finest and freshest ingredients. The family’s traditional meatball recipe is made with select cuts of beef, garlic, imported spices, Parmigiano Reggiano and Ricotta. We use the same recipe for our chicken meatballs and occasionally we make spicy versions of both. We serve our meatballs in the family’s classic homemade red sauce with some cheese and a chunk of fresh bread. You can also get a meatball sandwich or a side of meatballs with our daily pasta special.

There's nothing like a plate of Homemade Italian Meatballs. Big and juicy tender meatballs in a dish of homemade red sauce are the epitome of Italian-American food.

Come and visit Gelazzi for some old school Italian-American meatballs just like Grandma made.
