Stracciatella Gelato

Our Stracciatella Gelato captures the true Italian method of selecting the finest Italian chocolates and the sweetest milk to create this luscious creamy gelato that’s finished with a chocolate drizzle to truly capture its spirit. Stracciatella is kind of like a sweet cream gelato with chocolate chips; however it’s a bit more complicated than that. There’s a lot of work needed to achieve the taste of this delicious gelato.

First we blend our Fior di Latte (flower of milk gelato) with powdered sugar and a bit of fresh cream. We then create a couverture chocolate blend made of fine chocolates from Pontedera in the Tuscany region of Italy and mix it with chocolates from the Perugina confectionery in Perugia Italia.  As the gelato is extracted we fold in the hot melted couverture chocolate blend which hardens to create tiny chocolate ribbons and chips upon immediate contact with the cold gelato.

Stracciatella tastes really really good and goes well with most any other gelato or Italian dessert. At Gelazzi, our Stracciatella is so popular that we can’t seem to make enough of it.
